Teerawat Mulvilai

Teerawat Mulvilai is a versatile and virtuosic performer with training in Butoh, Viewpoints, and other diverse physical practices. He has directed and performed in many critically acclaimed works, notably “San Dan Ka” (2009, 2013, 2014, 2018), “Flu-Fool” (2011), “Goya and Gruang” (2011), “Red Tank” (2014), “Iceberg” (2014), “Quiet House” (2016), “Something Missing” (2018) and “The (Un)Governed Body” (2019). His artistic excellence has led him to direct, perform and collaborate with international artists in Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Scotland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Togo, Benin, Egypt, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and the US. He has been highly awarded by the Thai Section of the International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC – Thailand) and The Bangkok Theatre Festival. His IATC – Thailand awards include: "Oxygen" (Best Performance by an Ensemble, 2012), “Red Tank” (Best Performance by a Male Artist, 2014), “Fundamental” (Best Art Direction, Best Movement-Based Performance and Best Ensemble Performance, 2016) and "Something Missing Vol.3 " (Best Art Direction, Best Movement-Based Performance and Best Ensemble Performance, 2018). His Bangkok Theatre Festival Awards include: “Goda Gardener” (Socially Conscious Theatre Award, 2008), “San Dan Ka” (Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Movement-Based Performance and Best Ensemble Performance, 2013), “Iceberg” (Best Male Performance, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, and Best Movement-Based Performance, 2014), “Something Missing” (Best Art Direction, Best Movement-Based Performance, 2015) and “Manoland” (Best Ensemble Performance, 2018). In 2011 he received the Pitisilpa Santidhrama Award for his significant contributions to upholding peace, democracy and fairness in the field of art and culture in Thailand and in 2018 he received the prestigious Silpathorn Award for outstanding merit in theatre from Thailand's Ministry of Contemporary Art and Culture. Moreover, he has received numerous cultural exchange fellowships including the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship in 2009, an Arts Network Asia Grant in 2012 and an Asian Public Intellectual Fellowship in 2014. Beyond his work with B-Floor, Teerawat has performed in the dance films “Freedom Tunnel” and “Requiem,” and been featured in Thai and US films, most notably “Beyond Borders,” “Rescue Dawn” and “Thirteen Lives.” As a theatre actor he has performed with many Thai theatre companies and international directors, including Moqi Simon Trolin, Hiroshi Koike, Hirata Osiza and Toshiki Okada. He has also served as a Visiting Professor to Thai universities and is currently teaching Devising Theatre at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, Thammasat Unversity.
